Pakistan’s masoom Khirad is set to be swept off her feet by India’s charming Raj!

VJ turned TV actress Mahira Khan has been cast as the heroine of Shahrukh Khan’s latest venture Raees. She auditioned for the role while in India last month while on tour for Zee Zindagi,

The film is directed by National Award winner Rahul Dholakia and also stars Farhan Akhtar. Shahrukh Khan plays a gujurati don (sexy!) and Nawazuddin Siddiqui is to play the cop who’s after him.

Times of India reports that ‘SRK had dropped in at the audition to meet Mahira.;

According to the Deccan Chronicle Sonam Kapoor and Kriti Sanon were also contenders for the role but the director felt that Mahira captured the essence of the character best.

The film goes on floors in Mumbai in February 2015. Certain portions will be filmed in Gujarat

Her television serial with actor Fawad Khan Humsafar gained massive popularity in India and the media was abuzz with numerous rumors of  her doing a Bollywood film.

As one of the leading actresses in Pakistan Mahira has popularly said that she will not work in India until she has an excellent offer and working with King Khan is as high on the Bollywood totem pole as it gets!
