'Fan' was never meant for heartland audience: Shah Rukh Khan on taking chances

"It's (Fan) not a film that heartland group of onlookers will like it. Be that as it may, we took a risk thinking ideally they (gathering of people) will like it, however they require tune and move. I am not farfetched," Shah Rukh told PTI.

The on-screen character, 50, in his more than 20 year-long vocation has given a few blockbusters like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Kuch Hota Hai, Chennai Express, Happy News Year, among others.

Yet, some of his movies like Swades, Chak De! India did not do great business in the cinema world when contrasted with his other business movies.

The Happy New Year star acknowledges movie producers who think of clever thoughts.

"While (we) were making Swades, I had told Ashutosh Gowariker (film executive) that trust you know this film won't make much business as the other (business) movies do. In any case, he had the guts to make a film like Swades with a star like me," he said.

"I think this is the thing that we ought to celebrate. I think it is more refreshing when a set up executive, maker, star accomplishes something abnormal like Fan," he included.
